Step Up For Students

Opening the Door to a Private Education

Education isn’t one-size-fits-all. Just as every student is different, every classroom is different, and every school is different. Students learn best in an academic environment that is best suited to their learning needs.

Step Up For Students supports Florida students and families in building a stronger future through personalized education by opening doors with private school tuition assistance.

Opportunities available through:
The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC)The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO)

Parents are responsible for covering any tuition and fees not covered by scholarships. This includes costs such as registration, materials, and other associated expenses. It is important to review financial obligations and payment deadlines to ensure a smooth enrollment process.

Scholarships for Private Schools

K-12 students regardless of household income, who are residents of Florida and eligible to enroll in a K-12 public school, can receive a scholarship worth an average of $7,800 to attend a private school that best meets their academic needs.

The scholarship can be used for tuition along with other related expenses such as registration, books, testing, and other fees.

Helpful Tips:

  • If you already have an existing EMA account, please click the “Log in to EMA” button below and use that same account for the 2024-25 school year. Families will have one account where they will manage their students’ scholarships, even if the children benefit from different scholarship programs.
  • If you do not have an existing EMA account, please click the “Log in to EMA” button below and then click “Sign Up” to create your account.
  • Before beginning your 2024-25 application, please view the “My Students” tab to ensure all of your students are linked to your EMA account. If a student is not listed, please click the “Add a Student” button to add them BEFORE beginning an application.
  • Apply by scrolling down on your EMA dashboard and clicking the “Apply” button next to the appropriate program. If your family will benefit from more than one scholarship, you will select which students you are applying for as you begin the application. IMPORTANT: Starting this year, a student can only be on one scholarship application. Please be sure you apply for the correct scholarship program for each student.
  • Note: If you are interested in PEP, you will select “Apply” for the FTC/FES-EO program.
  • After submitting your application, you may monitor your status within your EMA account. We also encourage you to monitor your email for updates.
  • If you encounter an error message at any point while applying, please clear your cache and try again.
